SAVE ME: Privacy Policy

SAVE ME is a personal emergency system. It exists for one purpose: if something happens to you, the people you chose will know about it and will know where you are. This policy explains what is collected, who receives it, and what is never done with it.

What is collected

• Your name, your name in Latin letters if you entered it, and your phone number.
• The device position, its accuracy, the battery level, whether the phone is charging, and whether it is on Wi-Fi, while the system is on.
• The names and phone numbers of the emergency contacts you set.
• The Telegram chat id of a contact who chose to connect through the bot.
• A log of system events with their date and time: turning on and off, leaving and returning to the car, alerts, calls to contacts and their outcome, acknowledgements, stop attempts with a wrong code, and stopped transmissions.

Who receives it

While the system is on, the phone sends its position to the system’s server about once every 10 minutes, and also with every event, such as leaving or returning to the car. During an alarm on the phone (other than an alarm test), during an alert, and after the connection with the watch is lost, the phone sends its position every 5 seconds, and keeps doing so for about 2 more minutes after things calm down.

The emergency contacts you chose yourself can see your position on a live map. The map shows the last position received from the phone, even if the system has been turned off since, and your track up to 6 hours back. The map also shows your name, your battery level, and the names and phone numbers of all your contacts. The data the map receives from the server also includes your phone number and your name in Latin letters.

A contact who installed the contacts app can open the live map in it at any time. A contact connected only through Telegram receives the map link in alert messages and in the message about a lost connection with the watch. Anyone who has the link can open the map, so a contact can pass it on to someone who is helping them find you. You can also share the link from your app. The link is permanent: it does not stop working after a set time, and it cannot be cancelled from the app.

Messages in Telegram and in the contacts app, such as an alert, a notice that the connection with the watch was lost, or a notice that you are heading out into the field, also include your position and battery level. The heading-out notice and the lost-connection notice also include your phone number. Alert messages and the contacts app also show the names and phone numbers of all contacts, so they can coordinate. In Telegram, the contact who takes charge receives an English text to read to rescue services. In the contacts app, this text appears on the alert screen of every contact the alert has already reached. It includes your name in Latin letters, if you entered it.

The data is kept on the system’s own server and is used only to run the system. It is not sold, not rented and not used for advertising. It passes only through the services listed below, and only to run the system.

Services the system relies on

• Storage and processing: a server and database on Supabase, a cloud service.
• Delivering messages to contacts: Telegram.
• Text messages: when your phone itself raises an alert, for example after a fall or a press of the SOS button on the watch, it sends every contact a text message through your mobile carrier, if you allowed the app to send text messages. The message includes a link to your position, when it is known, and the contacts’ names.
• Maps: OpenStreetMap, an open map service. The live map loads the map of the phone’s area from it. When an alert starts, the server sends this service your position to find out which country you are in and what its emergency numbers are.
• Map software: the live map loads the software that draws the map from unpkg, a public distribution service. This service does not receive your position.
• Navigation and search: the messages, the contacts app and the live map include links that open your position in Google Maps, and links that search for police stations and hospitals around it. Google receives the position when someone opens such a link.

Each of these services has its own privacy policy. Data passes through them only to run the system.

How long it is kept

Position data is kept while the account exists, so you can see an earlier track and earlier events. Deleting the account deletes them too.

Your rights

You may ask at any time to see the data kept about you, to correct it, or to delete the account and everything in it. One message is enough.

The watch app

The watch app itself collects nothing and sends nothing to any server. It talks only to your phone, to send a call for help or to say that you are fine.
